Canton, MS – ASSET Engineering, an expanding power system engineering firm, is proud to announce that Tate Smith will be joining the headquartered office in Central Mississippi as an Electrical Drafter. In this role, he will be responsible for drafting and designing electrical and civil designs, developing new drawings, and implementing revisions to existing AutoCAD drawings, per markups provided by the company’s electrical engineers. One of Mr. Smith’s first assigned drafting/designing projects is for a 69-34.5 kV substation that is interconnected to a 20MW AC Solar Facility in Kings County, California. Here, he is responsible for the foundation design for the substation and for multiple drawings, such as single-line and three-line designs.

Prior to joining ASSET Engineering, Mr. Smith worked as a Drafting Technician at a nationally rated multi-disciplined engineering, planning, and construction management firm located in Ridgeland, Mississippi. While here, he was responsible for developing a multitude of drawings such as construction drawings, elevation drawings, and electrical drawings. Mr. Smith was also a leading figure in his department where he helped maintain project flow, meet deadlines, and serve as a quality control personnel for designs and drawings.

Tate Smith has a passion for fitness, family, and video games. He is a graduate of Hinds Community College, where he earned a 4.0 GPA and received a Technical Certificate in Drafting and Design Technology. At ASSET, he will have the opportunity to develop and grow his technical and project management skills in the power industry.
