ASSET Engineering Welcomes Darrell Steen as Senior Electrical Designer
Canton, MS – ASSET Engineering, an expanding power system engineering firm, is proud to announce that Darrell Steen will be joining the main office in Central Mississippi as a Senior Electrical Designer where he will support the Design Department to complete projects on time and under budget. In this role, he will be responsible for designing substation arrangements, grounding & conduit plans (above and below grade), all corresponding connection details, and will support various protection and control projects. For civil assignments, he will be designing foundations, structures, grading and their corresponding details. Some of Mr. Steen’s current assignments include the T-line routing and structure design of a solar farm in central Arizona, the design for a 115kV-34.5 kV substation for a 38MW AC solar farm in Georgia, and the capacitor bank and substation design for a utility project also in Arizona.
Prior to joining ASSET Engineering, Mr. Steen was hired as an Engineering Technician for a large Power System Engineering firm and a Substation Designer for an industry leader in the design and supply of high-voltage, open-air substations, and switchyards. For 14 years, he was a Substation, FACTS, and Civil Designer at General Electric where he was responsible for medium, high, and extra high voltage substation designs. Mr. Steen has rich experience with the development of physical layouts, elevation views, single line diagrams, electrical equipment plans, bill of materials, lightning stroke shielding plans, grounding plans and details, conduit plans, control building equipment, and performing maintenance at client facilities.
Darrell Steen is an Ethel, Mississippi native, and he currently lives in Brandon, Mississippi with his wife. He is a graduate of Holmes Community College, where he studied Architectural Design and Construction Tech. In his spare time, he creates various leather goods, metal castings and welding, 3D printed items and woodworks. Mr. Steen looks forward to developing new relationships and bringing his significant knowledge and experience to our clients’ projects while contributing to the firm’s continuous growth.
