Ridgeland, MS – ASSET Engineering is excited to announce the hiring of Ken Newsome as our team’s latest Electrical Drafter. Ken’s technical skills will be a tremendous asset to our team as he will prepare technical documents for electrical installations related to power system projects. Here at ASSET Engineering, he will be working with our engineers to produce design packages for substation protection and controls. Currently, Ken is working on developing such designs for several of our solar and industrial substation projects.

Ken, who is OSHA 30 and NCCER certified, received his Associate of Applied Science in Drafting and Design from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College. At the beginning of his career, Ken was a Drafting Designer, where he demonstrated leadership and perseverance to drive innovation by designing SEG, NON-SEG, and IPB electrical bus ducts. He excelled as a lead designer for multiple projects, provided technical support and instructional drawings, and led many installations and supervised emergency shutdowns. His excellent work and leadership led to him becoming a Senior Drafter Detailer, where he established a strong foundation for success by meticulously managing material and deadlines for production lines of HVAC units. He also created MFG details and fabrication drawings and drafted projects at multiple plants. Prior to ASSET, Ken’s most recent position was BIM/ Revit Specialist. In this position, Ken managed many STEM casework projects and maintained and coordinated project information. Ken has also served as a Pipefitter Journeyman, where he provided quality installation of large and small-bore piping systems.

Ken is from Crystal Springs, MS, and in his free time, Ken enjoys spending time with his family and friends, grilling, hunting, and fishing. ASSET Engineering is thrilled to welcome Ken as our new Electrical Drafter. We are so excited to have this talented and experienced drafter on our team and we look forward to all of the ways we will have success through his work.
