Walker Neal Earns PE License and Promotion
Canton, MS – ASSET Engineering is proud to announce that one of our young electrical engineers, Walker Neal, has officially received his Professional Engineering (PE) license by the Mississippi Board of Licensure for Professional Engineers and Surveyors. This marks Mr. Neal’s first licensure and promotion of his professional career. To become licensed, prospective engineers must undergo and complete a number of steps. They must earn a four-year degree in engineering from an accredited engineering program, pass the Fundamentals of Engineering exam, complete four years of progressive engineering experience under a licensed PE, and pass the rigorous Principals and Practice of Engineering (PE) exam.
Mr. Neal hails from Alexandria, Louisiana, and is a graduate of Louisiana Tech University, where he earned his Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. He has been with ASSET since 2018, where he was initially hired as a Graduate Engineer. During this time, Mr. Neal gained valuable experience in the engineering of electrical distribution systems and high voltage substations. Mr. Neal has served as a key electrical engineer for substation designs of large industrial, utility, and renewable energy project across North America.
One such project Mr. Neal supported was for a utility-scale solar farm substation project in South Carolina. Here, He developed the electrical system studies that included, short circuit, load flow, reactive compensation, protective coordination, and arc flash studies, as well as ground grid design and relay settings development. ASSET was contracted as the EPC firm for the substation portion of this 72MW, developer-owned and operated solar farm.
Mr. Neal has consistently demonstrated remarkable knowledge and specialized skills, while performing to the highest standards of quality and ethics. ASSET Engineering is proud of his accomplishments and to have him on the team as a certified Professional Engineer for the State of Mississippi. Mr. Neal’s promotion from Graduate Engineer to Project Engineer is well-deserved, and we are excited to witness his professional growth as an engineer.
